Turning the clock Bhindranwale way

February 24, 2023 04:35 PM

Amritsar:

As the violent group of Sikh youths wielding swords and guns stormed the Ajnala police station on Thursday ( Feb 23, 2023) demanding release of Lovepreet Singh alias Toofan, an accused in a case involving kidnapping, be released, it was far too aggressive statement that even Sant Bhindranwale never made.

But yes, it turned the clock back to 1982 when Bhindanwale had started his "morcha" at the Golden Temple demanding release of Bhai Amrik Singh and Bhai Tharu Singh after both of them were detained by the Amritsar police for violation of the arms act.

Bhindranwale started his dharna from the Golden Temple for the release of his two lieutenants but did not become violent about it.

Amritpal Singh, self-proclaimed Chief of Waris Punjab De, however, turned the clock back. Dressed up the way Bhindranwle would do and carrying the gun-toting bodyguards the way Bhindwanel did, it has indeed put Punjab in a flux again.

Among the Punjabis , of course, there are words like government agencies etc in circulation, but it is quite a warning to the state, indeed.

Leading a protest demonstration along with Shri Guru Granth Sahib ji for the release of Lovepreet from the police custody is a serious statement.

Instead of taking recourse to the legal measures, the demonstrators took Guru Granth Sahib ji's shelter to unleash terror in the state once again.

Bhindranwale made a symbolic statement through the Golden Temple, Amritpal Singh is making it through Guru Granth Sahib ji.
