(Dr Daljit S Cheema says party stands for treating the manifesto as a legal document )

Chandigarh, September 25 – The Manifesto Committee of the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) today announced that it would only include suggestions which could be implemented in its manifesto and stood for treating the same as a legal document.

Giving details, Committee Member Secretary Dr Daljit Singh Cheema said the Committee had taken suggestions from the party’s scheduled caste, backward caste and Bazigar Front wings under the chairmanship of its Chairman – Balwinder Singh Bhundar.

Dr Cheema said representatives of the various wings met the Committee separately and gave their suggestions in writing besides discussing each issue threadbare. He said senior leaders including BC wing president Hira Singh Gabhriya and Bazigar Front Chairman Davinder Singh Dayal also participated in the meeting and gave their suggestions. “Former legislators and district presidents also participated”, he asserted.

Stating that the Manifesto Committee would also take feedback from the party’s women, youth, trader, NRI and employees front and farmers, Dr Cheema said “we are also committed to visiting various parts of the State so that the sentiments of the common man can also be recorded”. He said the party had decided to conduct this detailed exercise as Punjabis felt that both the Congress and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) had betrayed them by releasing manifestos which had remained on paper only. “We are committed to implementing each and every clause in our manifesto and that is why we are discussing each suggestion as well as its financial obligation”.
